Rangu: The Colour of Home
Hyderabad has always been a city of colour
They call Hyderabad the City of Pearls. We've always thought that was only half the truth.
Walk its lanes and colour comes at you by the armful — the silk in the markets, the flower stalls at first light, the old walls, the Deccan sky at six in the evening. This city has never known a quiet shade. So when we designed our new collection, we didn't try to stand out against it. In a city this colourful, the only way to belong is to wear it.
That collection is Rangu — rangu meaning colour — and it's the most personal thing Hilo Design has made.
What is the Rangu collection?
Rangu is a collection of handcrafted designer kurtas and ethnic wear for men, made in Hyderabad. Every piece is designed to do one quiet thing well: help a man look like himself, only more so.
It sits exactly where Hilo Design has always lived — in the gap between soulless mass-market ethnic wear and intimidating couture. Designer-grade craft, genuinely handmade, at a fair price. Heritage worn lightly. Confidence worn daily.
Handcrafted menswear, made in Hyderabad
Every vine, every motif, every finished detail in Rangu is embroidered by hand by our karigars — the Hyderabad artisans whose skill has carried this city's craft for generations. Real fabric, real handwork, nothing pretend.
At Hilo Design, we don't hide the karigars behind the word "designer." They are the design. When we say handcrafted in Hyderabad, we mean hands — real ones.
Meet Gulmohar — a crimson festive kurta for men
The first piece from Rangu is Gulmohar, named for the tree that turns the city crimson each summer.
It's a deep red festive kurta cut from premium fabric, with delicate floral vine embroidery running across the front — all done by hand. A refined Mandarin collar keeps it sharp, a handcrafted fabric-button placket adds an old-world touch, and the cuffs carry the same fine embroidery, so the detail holds up close as well as across a room.
Built for the occasions that matter — festivals, weddings, receptions, and family gatherings — this designer kurta is traditional at heart and easy to wear now.
Ethnic wear that doesn't feel like a costume
The modern Indian man shouldn't have to choose between where he comes from and where he's going. Rangu is designed for both at once — handcrafted roots, modern cut. It's designer ethnic wear for men that fits your body, your moment, and your budget, with the craft you'd expect from couture and none of the couture markup.
This isn't just a collection. It's a homecoming.
